What are the engine options for the 2021 Cherokee?
There are three engines available for the Jeep Cherokee. The first engine is a 2.0-liter turbo engine that delivers an incredible 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque and is mated with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The incredible torque allows for a towing capacity of up to 4,000 pounds and allows for great fuel economy, getting 31 miles per gallon on the highway. The next engine option is a 2.4-liter Tigershark Multiair 2 engine which features dual variable timing and a flow-control valve intake manifold, giving it extreme efficiency. This engine has a driving range of more than 474 miles on a single tank and gets up to 31 miles per gallon on the highway. It is also paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Finally, the third engine option for the Cherokee is a 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 equipped with Engine Start/Stop technology to improve efficiency. This engine delivers 271 horses and 239 lb-ft of torque and is rated best-in-class towing capacity maxing out at 4,500 pounds.
Can you tell me about the newly standard safety features on the Cherokee?
Of course! Blind spot monitoring alerts Cherokee drivers to vehicles approaching in the blind spots beside and behind them and now works together with rear cross-path detection which warns you when a vehicle is crossing your path while backing up. Lanesense lane departure warning with lane keep assist uses audible and visual warnings to let the driver know when they are drifting into an unintended lane, and if needed will gently correct your steering. This is similar to the electronic stability control which senses when you are veering off course and will correct your driving if you are over or understeering. Finally, the Cherokee is equipped with full-speed forward collision warning and active braking and can sense when your Cherokee is approaching the vehicle in front of it too rapidly, and engage the brakes when necessary to avoid a collision.
Can you talk about some of the technology?
Every Cherokee model is equipped with a touchscreen Uconnect infotainment system in the front cabin of the vehicle and is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so you can access your smartphone right at the tips of your fingers. With Uconnect technology, it’s easier than ever to access some of the coolest features of your Cherokee, even when you aren’t in your vehicle. With Vehicle remote start you can warm up or cool down your Cherokee before you even get inside, right from the Uconnect app on your phone. Send&Go allows you to find destinations on your phone and deliver them to the Nav system in your Cherokee from the touch of a button, SOS call will connect you with a first responder and dispatch emergency vehicles if you are ever in trouble, and vehicle health report will send a breakdown of how your Cherokee is performing, and what may need a little tune-up!
